JJ Abrams loves secrets. Steven Spielberg isn’t exactly the most “open” director when it comes to details on his projects. And when you have both these stalwarts working together, it wouldn’t be a shock if information on the collaboration is scarce till the home video release.
Precious few snippets have been seen/read/heard of Super 8 so far. There was that intriguing teaser last year and the stunning Superbowl spot a month ago. But now, the full-length trailer is online and it is brilliant. Consider me absolutely psyched for this one.
The trailer premiered on Twitvid today, and I’ll update this post when HD encodes are out.
UPDATE – Apple has the trailer in HD now. Head on over there and enjoy!
Along with the trailer, Paramount also released the official synopsis for the movie. Here it is -
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
UPDATE – A new poster for the film is out for your perusal too. I think Paramount’s marketing department is really pulling off something spectacular here.

What about you? What did you think of the trailer? Does Paramount have a monster hit on their hands? Sound off in the comments!
