Oh, 300, what have ye wrought.

Zack Snyder’s hugely successful epic has had quite the the influence on swords-and-sandals tales since its release, and the new posters for Tarsem Singh’s Immortals are a striking example of that. But then, given that this project shares 3 producers with that one, maybe that isn’t so hard to believe.

I am intrigued by this film due to many reasons, not the least of which are Tarsem Singh (in his 1st big-budget tentpole), the cast and the premise (which is right up my alley) but I have to admit these posters don’t really do anything for me. You can see them after the jump.

Henry Caville as Theseus

Luke Evans as Zeus

Daniel Sharman as Aries

Isabel Lucas as Athena

Kellan Lutz as Poseidon

We’ve previously had some stills from this film, which you can see here. Look at the one of Freida Pinto and tell me if that doesn’t come off as cheesy and fetishistic.

Anyway, here’s the official plot synopsis -

In Immortals, the ruthless King Hyperion (Rourke) leads his bloodthirsty army on a murderous rampage across Greece to find a deadly weapon that will destroy humanity. A mortal chosen by Zeus named Theseus (Cavill) must lead the fight against Hyperion and his evil army with the fate of mankind and the Gods at stake.

I guess this will be the first time a whooooole lot of people will see the new Superman, Henry Cavill.

WonderCon (April 1-April 3) will have an Immortals panel, and attendees will be the first ones to see footage from the film. The film itself will release in the US on 11th November 2011.
